When Is Hanukkah 2010
When is Hanukkah? The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah starts on the Hebrew calendar date of 25 Kislev lasting for eight days. Therefore, it normally is between late November and December on the secular calendar. Here are those dates of future Hanukkah holidays starting on the sundown candle lighting of the menorah:
2012 December 8 Saturday
2013 November 27 Wednesday
2014 December 16 Tuesday
2015 December 6 Sunday
When speaking of candles, the Shamash, which acts as a candle that lights all others, ends up lighting 44 candles throughout the whole observance of Hanukkah. For example, on the first night of Hanukkah, one candle is lit by the Shamash. On the second night the Shamash lights two candles, etc.
A Hanukkah event can
include party games, songs, and activities.

Lighting Hanukkah lights is the most important Hanukkah custom. Jews light Hanukkah candles to remember the miracle of the Maccabees' victory and the miracle of the oil that burnt for eight days in the holy Temple.
