Tiaras have been a favorite costume accessory for years, but now you can use them for Hanukkah too. It is important to keep in mind that girls will enjoy tiaras more than boys. It would be a good idea to come up with a separate activity for boys to do when it comes time for tiara activities at a Hanukkah party.
A fun Hanukkah activity that involves tiaras is a beauty contest. This can end up becoming a fun tradition at every Hanukkah party. Write up separate invitations for the girls that will be invited to the Hanukkah party. Let them know that they will be competing in a Ms. Hanukkah pageant. Encourage the children to wear their best blue and white outfit, and to try to add a Hanukkah theme to the outfit. Letting the girls know ahead of time will allow them plenty of time to plan their outfit. On the day of the party pick at least 3 adults that will act as the judges. Have the girls walk down a runway in their outfits, and then ask them how there outfit represents Hanukkah. You can also have an interview segment where you ask the girls Hanukkah questions, or you could have a trivia segment to see which girl knows the most about Hanukkah. Have the judges pick a girl for first, second, and third place. Put a tiara on each girl, and give the winner a rose or a sash that says Ms. Hanukkah.
After you have given the winner the title of Ms. Hanukkah and their tiara it will be time to explain what happens next. Have everyone address the winner as Ms. Hanukkah for the rest of the party, and give them special privileges. Explain to Ms. Hanukkah that she will have to hand over her tiara to another girl next year when a new Ms. Hanukkah is named. This is a fun activity to do with girls, and it helps to build up their self-esteem.
