Paper plates can be a party host’s best friend at a Hanukkah party. The last thing that you want to worry about after a big party is washing the dishes. With all the different designs out there, it is not hard to find a paper plate that goes along with the Hanukkah theme.
Local party stores carry a wide variety of paper plates that fit in with any Hanukkah theme. It is very simple to decorate with white and blue paper plates. White and blue are popular colors for Hanukkah. There are also designed paper plates that have pictures of the Star of David, and menorahs. Each guest can throw away their plate when they are done eating. This frees the host up to do other things than wash dishes.
Children can make a paper plate menorah craft for Hanukkah. To make this craft you will need the following: A miniature paper plate, 9 craft sticks, 1 jumbo craft stick, cotton balls, yellow and orange tissue paper, scissors, silver acrylic paint, gold glitter glue, and a hot glue gun or white craft glue. Cut the paper plate in half and paint the outside of both plates with the silver paint. Paint the miniature craft sticks white, and the jumbo stick silver. Once the paint is dry, brush a layer of the gold glue over the craft sticks. Turn the plate over, with the silver side down, and glue one of the white craft sticks in the center. Make sure it is sticking up and only a small piece of it is glued to the plate. Glue the other craft sticks slightly lower than the middle one. There should be four on each side. Once the glue is dry, glue the jumbo craft stick in the center of the rounded plate for the stand. Glue both half of the plates together and leaving the top open. Stuff the plates with cotton balls. Use the tissue paper to make flames on the candles. You can use the gold glitter glue to decorate the candle holders.
Paper plates are easy for the host to serve food on, but they can also be used to make a great Hanukkah craft. Let the children try to make their own menorah out of paper plates at your next Hanukkah party.
