Headbands are a very common fashion accessory for girls, and they can make a great Hanukkah activity or favor. The great advantage of headbands is that they will be used long after the Hanukkah season has ended. Headbands have been around for years, and have become very practical because they make it quick and easy to pull back your hair. Most little girls are able to fix their hair themselves with headbands.
A fun Hanukkah activity for little girls is to have them design their own headband. You will need to provide each little girl with a base headband to start with. There are a couple of different ways to put these together. The simplest way is to purchase plain white headbands that are already covered in cloth. The second option is to purchase a plastic headband and wrap them with wide ribbon. You will need to use a hot glue gun to insure that the fabric sticks to the headband. It does not matter which option you choose. The important thing is to make sure that they are a nice wide headband, and not small and thin. This provides the girls with a better base to design.
After you have your base headbands there are a few more things that you will need to do before the girls can make their Hanukkah headbands. You will need to purchase fabric paints or fabric pens. These can be found at any craft store. Line your table with newspapers to protect it, and lay out all of the supplies. Give each girl a base headband, and let them use the paint or pens to decorate with. Make sure to encourage the girls to use their creativity and implement Hanukkah into their designs. The girls will enjoying wearing and showing off their headbands.
