Door curtains have become a very popular decoration that can be used during the Hanukkah celebration too. You can either purchase a Hanukkah themed door curtain at your local party store, or you can make your own door curtain. Making your own door curtain is very simple, and the children will enjoy helping with this project also.
In order to make your own Hanukkah door curtain you will need the following supplies: muslin fabric, glue, acrylic paint, paint brushes, a plastic tablecloth and water. Measure the length and width of the door where you will place your curtain. Purchase enough muslin fabric to cover your measurements. Muslin fabric is basically just a white piece of pure cotton fabric. It is very inexpensive and can be found at any arts and crafts store. Put your plastic tablecloth down on your table in order to protect it. Spread out your fabric and use the glue to make Hanukkah designs on your fabric. You can use a paint brush and paint the designs on your fabric with glue. Allow the glue to fully dry before continuing. Once the glue is dry you are ready to paint your door curtain.
Painting your Hanukkah door curtain is very simple. Pour some acrylic paint in a small plastic container. Mix with water until it is runny. You do not want the paint to be thick. To stick with the Hanukkah theme use blue paint. Using a paintbrush, brush the paint mixture until the entire fabric is covered. Allow the paint to sit for about an hour. Then rinse the cloth with warm water. You want to make sure that all of the glue is out of the fabric. You will notice that none of the paint will stick to where the glue was. Keep rinsing until the water is clear, and no more paint is coming off of it. Let the cloth air dry, or use the delicate setting on your dry. Once it is completely dry you can hang it on your door. This project makes a lovely homemade Hanukkah door curtain.
